YouTube shared some exciting announcements on the YouTube Blog, highlighting big updates coming to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) over the next year, whether you’re new to monetizing or hitting your 1000th upload. These updates are designed to reward all types of creators and help even more of you start making money on YouTube

YouTube Ads Revenue Sharing on Shorts – a new way to make money

In early 2023, Creators can start to earn from ads that are viewed in the Shorts Feed, based on your Shorts views – the more views you have, the more money you make. This will give creators like you a more sustainable option to grow and earn with short-form content as the Shorts ecosystem continues to grow.

Super Thanks for Shorts

A new way to engage with your community
Your fans are always looking for more ways to show you love and appreciation, so early next year YouTube bringing Super Thanks to Shorts. Creators able to spot and interact with top fans through highlighted, colorful Super Thanks comments. It’s currently in testing on Shorts, but make sure to turn on Super Thanks in YouTube Studio so you don’t miss out when it officially launches

MORE WAYS TO QUALIFY FOR THE YOUTUBE PARTNER PROGRAM

There are so many formats available to make content on YouTube, such as Shorts, live streaming and long-form video, and we want to make sure you can get rewarded for making all of them. These new ways to qualify will be available for all creators interested in joining YPP in countries where YPP is available, and lets you choose the one that best fits your channel. If you’re already in YPP, your eligibility doesn’t change.

COMING IN 2023 – MORE WAYS TO BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR YPP

Shorts: Starting in early 2023, creators able to apply to YPP if you meet a new Shorts specific threshold of 1,000 subscribers and 10 Million Shorts views over 90 days.
Nothing will change with our existing thresholds, you can still apply to YPP when you reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours.
