Aadhaar PVC card from open market not valid; How to order valid Aadhaar PVC card

UIDAI has strongly discouraged the use of PVC Aadhaar copies from the open market due to the lack of security measures.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the UIDAI states that “We strongly discourage the use of as they do not carry any security features. You may order Aadhaar PVC Card by paying Rs 50/-(inclusive of GST & Speed post charges). PVC card/Plastic or Aadhaar smart card prints from the open market are NOT Valid.”

Features of Official Aadhaar PVC Card

The PVC-based Aadhaar Card has a digitally signed secure QR code with photograph and demographic details with several security measures. Aadhaar PVC Card is supplied by fast post to the resident’s address.

According to the UIDAI website, this card contains security features like:
Secure QR Code, Hologram, Micro text, Ghost image, Issue Date & Print Date, Guilloche Pattern, Embossed Aadhaar Logo etc

How to order a Aadhaar PVC card

  1. Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  2. Click on “Order Aadhaar PVC Card”
  3. Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar Number (UID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID
  4. Enter the OTP that was sent to your registered mobile phone.Click on the check box against “Terms and Conditions”.
  5. Click on “Submit” Button to complete OTP verification.
  6. Click on “Make payment”.You will be re-directed to Payment Gateway page with payment options as Credit/Debit Card, Net banking and UPI.
  7. Make payment choosing the suitable option.

On successful payment, a receipt with digital signature will be generated, which may be retrieved in PDF format by residents.
The Service Request Number will be sent to residents by SMS as well. On Check Aadhaar Card Status, residents may check the status of their SRNs until their Aadhaar cards are delivered. Once dispatched from DoP, SMS with the AWB number will also be delivered.
